Canoeing The Congo Film: The First Source To Sea Descent Of The Congo River –
Filmed entirely on location in Central Africa as it happened, this 52 minute film follows the story of my five month solo attempt to canoe the Congo River from source to sea. I was chased, threatened at gunpoint, catapulted with rocks and regularly harassed for money, but also witnessed breathtaking scenery in a part of the world seldom visited by outsiders.
I also experienced incredible kindness from the local people, and quite frankly they were the highlight of the trip for me (apart from the odd maniac). To maintain that much dignity and character despite their challenging circumstances, will forever be an inspiration to me.
It won best feature at the Llanberis Mountain Film Festival, and was shown at various other festivals, including the Adventure Travel Film Festival, Sheffield Film Festival and the Reel paddling Festival in North America.
